OVERBALANCED, MEMBRANE CONTROLLED FIRST STAGE
The heart of a regulator is the first stage. Most First Stages of Apeks work with an overbalanced, membrane controlled mechanism. In an overbalanced First Stage, as the diver's depth increases, the mean pressure in the tubing increases faster than in conventional balanced First Stages. The increased mean pressure compensates for the increasing density of your breathing gas by allowing a greater amount of breathing gas to flow through the system when needed (i.e. when inhaling). The result is above-average breathing performance, regardless of depth.
DRY CHAMBER PROTECTED BY "DRY SEAL
Most First Steps are equipped with the unique "Dry Seal". This device serves several purposes, among others it protects against icing of the main spring as it can occur during dives in very cold waters. The "Dry Seal" also protects the first stage drying chamber from the ingress of contaminants. This eliminates the need for greasy silicone oils or grease fillings in the regulator.
The Apeks 1 Stage DST offers a lot of comfort due to its rotating head. The medium-pressure ports exit there and offer a good hose configuration, for example for double unit, monobottle or stage.
Also for sidemount diving the perfect companion. Optionally you have the possibility to mount a 5th medium pressure outlet on top of the head. (Accessories and not included)
The DST has 4 medium pressure outlets (3/8") and 2 high pressure outlets (7/16").
Of course the Apeks DST 1. stage is suitable for cold water and therefore also for temperatures below 10°C.
